Archaeological findings within Kula volcanic area embrace a wide variety of pots and vessels from prehistoric times to Hellenistic era where majority belongs to Roman period. The quality of the findings indicates the existence of very advanced technique on pottery. This, millennia old tradition is still kept alive in Gökeyüp village where many families earn their life from pottery. Gökeyüp pottery makers still uses the old techniques where they gather the pottery dough by simply crushing the augen gneiss bedrock.
