A Geopark is a single, unified geographical area where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. Geoparks are areas of conservation that aim to protect the geosite and pass them conserved to future generations, as well as contribute the social and cultural development of the local people. In addition to the protection of geoheritage, geoparks also aim to increase awareness in human society of the sustainable use of natural resources, reducing the impacts of climate change and the risks associated with natural disasters etc.
